At AC Connectors, we follow very closely with updates from Tesla and other EV manufacturers. This time, Ford grabbed the spotlight with an innovation for their upcoming F-150 Hybrid pick-up truck: an onboard power panel. Vehicles usually have a household outlet(s) available to charge phones or power small electronics.
Most pick-up truck owners use their truck for their job or hobby, so why not have a full-blown panel of different outlets available? The usual outlets that would come on a generator are still available. You can use a NEMA L14-30 outlet for high power machinery or appliances, as well as several outlets to power the smaller tools or appliances. There are different models to choose from that vary in outlets and wattage output all the way up to 7,200 Watts.
That’s enough to power your mobile welder for up to 32 hours on a single tank of gas! If that is exactly the type of work you would be doing, you would need AC WORKS® brand adapters to adapt your 650 welder plug to the L1430 outlet available. The compact WDL1430650 and flexible WDL1430650-018 will work perfectly for that. If you pick a lower wattage model that runs at up to 2,000 Watts, it will come with just a couple of 20A household outlets.
You can still power the essentials for a tailgate or DIY drive-in movie theater like a heater, TV, projector, speakers, and mini-fridge. You can add more outlets by using our ADV104, PSROT-072, or S515B515-060. If all you need are extension cords, we have you covered with S520PR which comes in lengths of 10, 25, and 50 feet. If you do happen to own one of these trucks, let us know what you use it for!
